TV Antennas? Want To Get The Best Pictures?

HDTV. Info. FAQ.

TV Antennas?

First Of All, You need To Know Whether You Need an Indoor antenna Or an Outdoor Antenna.

BUT, You may REALLY need an Outdoor Antenna.

How to find out? Read On...

And don't bother making your own home made one, because you will probably give up half way.

It's easier and less hassle to buy a DB8 than trying to make your own, believe me.

Another snippet you need to know: Regular antennas and Digital TV antennas are the same thing.

Also, hdtv antenna or a High Definition antenna are the same as a stock standard antenna.

However, Aerial boosters or amplifiers are not.

You are better off buying a digital certified amplifier for your setup, if you need one.

For the best indoor antenna, you simply need to know how far away the antenna tower or towers are, and which direction they are.

If they are roughly within a 40 mile circle which should cover most if not all the stations that you can potentially receive.

For instance, go here for information on a DB8 antenna that will pull in almost any stations that you want in your local area.

If you live in the city near the transmitters, it's easy -- any small omni-directional antenna will do like a DB2.

If you live 50+ miles from transmitters and they're in different directions, its challenging.

Here are some tips:

Antennae receive better in one direction than another, and the high-gain antennae are the most difficult to get right.

If you buy a directional high-gain antenna, be prepared to spend a lot of time tweaking the direction it is pointing.

Because not all your local TV stations may have transmitters that are in the same direction from your house.

Buy an antenna that has has good gain for the channel(s) you're most interested in.

You might just check your neighbourhood, if people have outside antennae, what type are they and which direction are they facing?

Or do they have an antenna in the attic?

That's a clue, and scroll down to the bottom of the product page to read customer reviews.

Also the quality of the signal can vary because of trees and houses in the way of your antenna and the signal you want.

There are 2 ways to get a better signal in that case, no 1 is simply more height.

No 2 is install an booster / amplifier...
