HDTV Recorder? Why Not Get High Definition...

Haven't got a HDTV Recorder?

The problem with recording HDTV is that currently, unless you have a Blu-Ray recorder, you can't record HDTV pictures on a Standard disk DVD which is 480i...

So unless you have a PC based Blu-Ray recorder, you won't get any benefit from your standard recorder/player because it is incapable of playing back the format that HD is in, which is MPEG2...

You can use the video output jacks on the back of your TV to record the tv program or whatever you are watching from your TV to your VHS or DVD recorder, if you want...

As long as your TV outputs the signal to those jacks, you can simply record that...

It won't be HDTV though, it will be DVD standard quality, which may be good enough for you if you just want a copy of the program...

One way that you can record real HDTV though is by purchasing a Digital VHS recorder...

This will allow you put HD pictures from it's own built in signal source, that is, a Digital Tuner, and record it in Digital format...

These formats can be recordings of 1080i or 720p, 480p and 480i formats when using a connector to a digital set-top box via an iLink or IEEE 1394 terminal...

With a built in decoder the units can convert any input from a Camera or a player and store it in digital format...

There is another way to record HD programs, with a HDTV with a built in Hard disk recorder...

Or an external HDTV disk recorder, like a TIVO...

This allows you to record your favorite programs just by pressing record, and this type of recorder also allows time shifting of programs so that you can rewind and fast forward while you watch a live show...
